Academy Mission: To educate students to become Responsible, Achieving, Motivated, and Self-reliant citizens, who are well-rounded and well-prepared for future success.
 
Established in 1954 Rancho High School is the second oldest high school in the Las Vegas valley.  RHS introduced its Academy programs in 1997, adopting the “school-within-a-school” model to promote cultural, social, and economic diversity. Part of a comprehensive high school, the RHS Academy provides students with rigorous and relevant learning experiences within the magnet programs as well as in the general curriculum. RHS challenges students with a wealth of Honors and Advanced Placement offerings,  Faculty and administration continuously monitor the academic needs of students to provide them with the best educational experience possible. RHS fosters student creativity and ingenuity through dynamic electives such as orchestra, theater, dance, band, choir, and art. After-school athletic programs and club activities address students’ social needs by providing a sense of community. In all its endeavors, the RHS Academy programs strive to educate students to become Responsible, Achieving, Motivated, and Self-reliant citizens.

PAC Meeting Wednesday, October 10th Our monthly PAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 10th at 9 a.m. in Room 513. Have questions about changes in graduation requirements? Following the PAC meeting, a representatives from FACES will be presenting on graduation requirements. We hope to see you there.
FAFSA Now Open

FAFSA Now Open Students can now file their FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA is the first step for any financial aid, including grants, work-study, and loans. Apply Nevada! is hosting several workshops for CCSD students during the month of October to assist students and their families with the FAFSA. College Readiness Bootcamp
The Asian Community Development Council is hosting a free College Readiness Bootcamp at UNLV on Saturday, September 29th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hear from college students and industry professionals. Rancho Students Named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Congratulations to seniors Benjamin Ballin and Ethan Krammer who were named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists this week. To qualify, Ballin and Krammer scored the very highest in Nevada on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test; semifinalists represent less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors. Ballin and Krammer will now be in the running to earn some of the 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.

Class of 2018 Participates in HEAN Graduation

Class of 2018 Participates in HEAN Graduation Approximately 190 Rancho seniors participated in the 31st Annual Hispanic Baccalaureate Program this past Sunday. This graduation celebrates Hispanic students earning a 3.2 or higher GPA. Special recognition was given to senior Erica Bonilla-Velasco who received a 2018 HEAN scholarship; she was chosen from a competitive group of applicants who are pursuing careers in education. Nice job Rams! #heanbacc2018
Rancho Innovators Recognized by Local and National Businesses

Rancho Innovators Recognized by Local and National Businesses As part of a the Verizon Innovation Design Grant, several Rancho students had a chance to showcase their inventions last weekend. During the year, students were assigned to work with a small business partner to develop a solution that also integrates AR and VR technology. Each school selected two teams to compete. Representing Rancho were engineering students Noah Tuck with his Solar Powered Pool Cleaner and Team Spartan, consisting of Adam Sanusi, Nathaniel Brillantes, Nathaniel Maloco and Jesus Castro. Team Spartan designed a single player video game that utilized story elements from The Labyrinth of Crete. Noah Tuck was recognized for Best Use of Emerging Technology, and first place for his product pitch. Noah's project was a solar powered unmanned marine vehicle that addressed scalable consumers from an average home pool owner all the way up to global ocean cleanup.
Rancho Senior Receives Community Service Award

Rancho Senior Receives Community Service Award Congratulations to Shane Risolio who was recognized by the City of North Las Vegas for his outstanding community service. Shane is a senior in Rancho’s Aerospace Engineering Program, and during his four years at Rancho, his service to others has been a distinguishing quality for him. He has been involved in many service projects, both with school organizations, such as NHS, and on his own. Shane and seniors from four other North Las Vegas high schools were awarded certificates from the mayor and city council members and from Congressman Ruben Kihuen, along with a cash scholarship. Thank you to the City of North Las Vegas and to Mr. Jeff Alpert for providing this recognition.
