Academy Mission: To educate students to become Responsible, Achieving, Motivated, and Self-reliant citizens, who are well-rounded and well-prepared for future success.
 
Established in 1954 Rancho High School is the second oldest high school in the Las Vegas valley.  RHS introduced its Academy programs in 1997, adopting the “school-within-a-school” model to promote cultural, social, and economic diversity. Part of a comprehensive high school, the RHS Academy provides students with rigorous and relevant learning experiences within the magnet programs as well as in the general curriculum. RHS challenges students with a wealth of Honors and Advanced Placement offerings,  Faculty and administration continuously monitor the academic needs of students to provide them with the best educational experience possible. RHS fosters student creativity and ingenuity through dynamic electives such as orchestra, theater, dance, band, choir, and art. After-school athletic programs and club activities address students’ social needs by providing a sense of community. In all its endeavors, the RHS Academy programs strive to educate students to become Responsible, Achieving, Motivated, and Self-reliant citizens.

ACT Test Preparation Rancho High School and Tutors Across America have scheduled an ACT Weekend Boot Camp for January 18-20, 2019. See attachment for more details.
Allegiant Airlines Visits Rancho Aviation

Allegiant Airlines Visits Rancho Aviation Representatives from several departments within Allegiant Airlines visited Rancho's Aviation Program today. Students learned about careers in the airline industry, created marketing campaigns for specific routes, and calculated revenue for flights. Regional Pilot Ernie Mevin shared with students that this is the best time to be a pilot since airplanes were invented. Rancho greatly appreciates Allegiant spending time with our students and looks forward to our ongoing partnership with this industry leader.
Aerospace Engineering Students Visit Think Tank

Aerospace Engineering Students Visit Think Tank On Monday, Rancho's Aerospace Engineering II and III classes had a chance to visit AFWERX, an Air Force think tank. Students learned about innovation, creative thinking, and future technologies. They even proposed their own ideas for new helmet technology.

FAFSA Now Open

FAFSA Now Open Students can now file their FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA is the first step for any financial aid, including grants, work-study, and loans. Apply Nevada! is hosting several workshops for CCSD students during the month of October to assist students and their families with the FAFSA. Rancho Students Named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Congratulations to seniors Benjamin Ballin and Ethan Krammer who were named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists this week. To qualify, Ballin and Krammer scored the very highest in Nevada on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test; semifinalists represent less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors. Ballin and Krammer will now be in the running to earn some of the 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.
